You Must Eat This

Do you like food? I expect your answer is yes, since you’ve found your way to this webpage.

Throughout my travels, I am always keen to try new and interesting foods pertaining to the area of my travel. Here is an ever-updating list of foods I have tried while abroad that I think you should try too!:

Austrian Schnitzelaustrianschnitzel

The Austrians love a hearty meal. A schnitzel is about as Austrian as it gets, besides their love of giant-sized beers

 Belgian Wafflesbelgianwaffle

Are a thing given to us from the heavens. Gooey chocolate and fluffy whipped cream.

Bosnian Chevapicroatia 797

In Mostar we were told, you’ve got to eat Chevapi before you leave. Well, those small little sausages with raw onion and pita were a highlight. Remarkably good.

Dutch BitterballenIMG_0766

Fried balls of a meaty flavoured mashed potato consistancy. Does anybody know what actually goes inside these things? Not me.

Dutch Fries

Best served with my hunks favourite toppings – ketchup, mayonnaise and raw chopped onion!

macaronsFrench Macarons

I don’t know who invented the macaron, but I would like to shake that persons hand. So French and so chic. Laduree on the Champs Elysees is famous for them and I’ve tasted why!

German CurrywurstFullSizeRender (16)

German sausages get even better with curry sauce, or curry powder within the meat of the sausage!

Icelandic Lobster rollslobstershack

There is an epic food stall down by the water in Rejkjavik called The Lobster Shack. Taste bud heaven.

iceland 204Icelandic Hot-dogs

Icelandic Hot-dogs are out of this world good. Can’t you tell?

Italian Ice creamicecream

My Roman Top 3: Old Bridge Gelateria, San Crispino, Giolitti.

Italian Pizza Al Taglioimg_7197

Alice Pizza is great for pizza by the slice. You can choose as little or as much as you want and it is pay by weight!

moroccantagineMoroccan Tagine

The best thing about tagine is that they come to your table with the lid still on the clay pot they have cooked in, so it’s a surprise every time you open your dish! Okay, that’s the 2nd best thing. The best thing is how bloody delicious they are!

portugesetartPortuguese Tarts

I saw this for the first time at Lisbon Airport and I was a goner for the remainder of our trip. These things come fresh out of the oven and are the most delicious vanilla custard tart you’ve ever come across!

DSC01137Romanian Papanasi

These cheese donuts are amazing! Just enough savoury and just enough sweet. The are a donut with sour cream and jam thrown on top for good measure. And really, you can’t go wrong. There was something so more-ish about Papanasi!

Spanish PinxtosIMG_3627

You can eat many different meals in miniature! The best I’ve had were in Barcelona at Bilbao Berria!

Spanish Omeleteomelet

The best in Madrid can be found at Juana La Loca in Barrio La Latina!

Spanish Sangriasangria

I drank it as much as possible in Barcelona, Madrid and Seville. It’s totally amazing when made fresh locally, and particularly good in enotecas!

Vietnamese Banh Mi

The day Hunk and I found a banh mi cafe in Hanoi, we fell in love. And then we didn’t speak to each other once while we ate them. Just too good to take a break from eating to discuss how yummy!

18 March 1335Vietnamese Spring Rolls

Alright. These are good. We made our own on the junk boat we stayed on in Halong Bay. So tasty!

18 March 1828Vietnamese Hot Pot

I’ve written a whole blog post dedicated to Vietnamese hot pot, this was my favourite thing to eat while in Vietnam!

IMG_2790Welsh Rarebit

A simple meal or snack that is this: cheese on toast. However, it can come in interesting ways, like the one we tried at The Potted Pig in Cardiff with truffle oil in the mix!
